Elementary & Middle School Students
YouTube is not intended for children under the age of 13. As a result, YouTube is disabled for and inaccessible to students in elementary and middle school on MCPS-managed Chromebooks as well as when students are signed into the Chrome browser using their MCPS Google account. If students are creating content using Google Slides, Google Sites, or other applications that include a YouTube integration, YouTube will still be inaccessible when signed into a Chromebook or the Chrome browser with their MCPS Google account.
For teachers and staff who have an interest in still using YouTube with students, videos can be embedded in a Google Slides presentation or in a page in myMCPS Classroom (Canvas LMS) to make the videos accessible.

Effective Thursday, May 25, 2023, students will no longer be able to enroll/re-enroll a Chromebook after it has been powerwashed. This means that if a device is powerwashed by a student, a staff member will need to log into the device to complete the enrollment/re-enrollment process. While students can still complete the powerwash process on their own, the device will be unusable until they work with staff to complete the device enrollment process.
Please be aware of this change and share it with your teams/staff for consideration. We know this is not ideal but it is important to ensuring the appropriate use and security of our devices when in use by students.
