Analysis of Equity and Identity in STEM is a one-semester credit elective where students look at how various STEM fields (biology, physics, chemistry, computer science, engineering, mathematics) are impacted by race and gender. Concepts from sociology, economics and other social sciences will be applied to better understand the connections between STEM and how humans interact with each other. Through their work in the class, students will examine research articles, read extended texts, engage in discussions, conduct independent research, and propose modifications to current policies and practices at the local, regional, national and international level.
