(A response to Mark Strand’s “Keeping Things Whole”)
The things we keep close
That keep things whole, Slowly shift
They are torn away and a new world is presented
Rules, Standards< and many many questions
Each day, crazier than the next
It's hard to keep things whole, when they just aren't
When you are not absent from the field, but the field, is absent from you
When the “wherever” is what is missing
When you walk, all that moves is the air from your air conditioning
And circles around the same 4 rooms your body has been
Everyone reflects on their reasons to move
Because now? We have less space.
