Ms. Blazina’s American Sign Language 3 class visited Montgomery College along with ASL students from 11 MCPS schools to view a new documentary directed by Nyle DiMarco about the historic 1988 Gallaudet University Deaf President Now protest. Students traveled using public transportation, gaining valuable real-world experience while connecting classroom learning to the community. After the film, Montgomery College’s Sign Language Director spoke about opportunities in ASL and Deaf Studies—an inspiring end to a day celebrating advocacy, language, and Deaf culture.
