Your Pathway to Real-World Experience
WELCOME TO THE 2025 - 2026 SCHOOL YEAR!
Your Pathway to Real-World Experience
Welcome to the Sherwood High School Internship Program! This program is designed to give students real-world experience in a career field of interest while earning academic credit. Whether you are interning with a local business, community organization, government agency, or within our school, this program will help you develop essential workplace skills, explore career pathways, and build your professional network.
Expectations
What You’ll Do
Gain hands-on experience in a real-world job setting
Explore career interests through observation, participation, and mentorship
Develop professional skills such as communication, responsibility, time management, and problem-solving
Complete academic assignments that connect your internship to career readiness skills
Track your progress through biweekly reflections, timesheets, and evaluations
Time Commitment
Students attend their internships during one, two, or three scheduled class periods each day. In addition to internship hours, students participate in:
A weekly seminar with career-related lessons
Biweekly paperwork, including timesheets and reflections
Quarterly evaluations by site supervisors
A semester visit from the Internship Coordinator
Who It’s For
Juniors and seniors in good academic standing who are motivated, responsible, and interested in gaining early access to career exploration. Students must complete all paperwork and receive approval before beginning their internship.
NOTE: Students in internship are required to leave the school building once their academic day is complete, unless they have been approved for an in-school internship. Students who remain in the building repeatedly may lose their internship and be assigned to a full-day schedule.
I really enjoyed having an internship in my senior year! I had completed all my necessary credits required to graduate, so I liked that I had the chance to use the second half of my day to get work experience in the real world rather than take unnecessary classes that did not relate to what I wanted to do in the future.
