I'm Mrs. Folan and I'm your media specialist. I hope to help each of you become a lifetime learner and reader through our Media Center programs. In addition to reading great books together, we will learn about research, digital safety and how to use library resources to solve problems. Come see me any time. I'll help you find the best books, teach you some new learning games, and encourage you to explore!
Mrs. Liu (Media Assistant) Helen_e_liu@mcpsmd.org I have loved books since I was a young child. My favorite book growing up was Stuart Little. I also enjoyed books by Judy Blume. It was easy to picture yourself in many of her characters. A good book lets you escape everyday life and be drawn into a whole new world. When you visit the Media Center, I'm here to help you find your new favorite book that will draw you into a whole new world!
Gibbs Media Center Mission:
It's our mission to teach students how to choose the best information sources to answer their needs, how to safely use and access that information, and to encourage a love of reading, inquiring and sharing knowledge with others.
Gibbs Media Center Vision:
The media center will be a place where students, teachers and staff feel welcome and comfortable exploring any subject that interests them. We will support that exploration with the resources, instruction and assistance that helps everyone become--and remain-- life long readers, learners, and critical thinkers. We will be committed to inclusion of all students and staff, and to providing equitable access to all. The media center will collaborate with teachers to design authentic lessons tied to the curriculum and to the standards of the American Association of School Librarians, Maryland State Department of Education, and International Society for Technology Education.
