BUSSES AVAILABLE FOR TRANSPORTATION TO GRADUATION

GHS has chartered busses to take those in need of transportation to graduation at UMBC. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Seats are $25 per person and may be purchased via School Cash Online. To purchase, please complete this form. A link for purchase will be provided after submission of the form.

GRADUATION

The date for graduation for the Class of 2024 is June 12, at 2pm, at UMBC. Each graduate will receive 8 tickets. 

Graduation rehearsal will be in the GHS auditorium on June 10 from 8am to 12pm. Cap and gown and tickets will be distributed at that time.

SENIORS! IT'S TIME TO ORDER FOR GRADUATION! 

Update 4/19: Online cap and gown order have closed. Students may still make cash payments with Ms. Smith. 

We're ready to start taking orders for cap and gown. The cost is $85. Orders may be placed at Jostens.com. *PLEASE NOTE: You only need to order the "cap and gown unit." This unit includes everything you need for graduation: cap, gown, tassel, and stole. The black tassel offered is a souvenir tassel and will not be used for graduation. The window to order will be open until January 26, 2024.

Graduation Update - Weather

UPDATE 06/09/23: GRADUATION HAS BEEN MOVED TO JUNE 13 AT 10AM. PLEASE SEE THE MAIN PAGE OF THE GHS WEBSITE FOR MORE INFORMATION.

Trojan community -

As previously communicated to our families, the 2023 Gaithersburg Graduation Ceremony is currently scheduled for Monday, June 12th at 10:00 am.  To allow for our staff to celebrate with our seniors, there is currently no school on Monday, June 12th.

The current weather forecast is calling for rain.  We are working with MCPS to monitor the forecast daily.  A final decision will be made on Friday, June 9th.

Please check the GHS website on Friday, June 9th for an update on our Graduation Ceremony (https://www2.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/schools/gaithersburghs/).

IMPORTANT:  IF we have to reschedule our Graduation Ceremony to Tuesday, June 13th, please note the following important information:

** Monday, June 12th will become a regular school day for students & staff

** Tuesday, June 13th there will be no school for students.

** Tuesday, June 13th at 10:00 am will be the rescheduled Graduation Ceremony

CHROMEBOOKS

Seniors must return their Chrome Book, Charger and Mi-Fi (if they had one) to Gaithersburg High School before Graduation. Students may bring their technology to the Main Office up until the afternoon of Tuesday, June 6th. The last opportunity to return technology will be the morning of Graduation rehearsal on Wednesday, June 7th.

MCPS may charge a replacement fee for all technology that is not returned to the school.

Senior Parent Meeting - VIRTUAL

There will be a virtual senior informational meeting on Thursday, May 4th from 6:30pm to 7:30pm on zoom.

Information will be provided regarding graduation and other senior end-of-year activities.

Graduation Updates - 04/11/23

GRADUATION for the Class of 2023 is on June 12, 2023, at 10am in the GHS Stadium. 

REHEARSAL will be on June 7th from 8:00am - 11:30am in the PAC. More information will be released as we get closer to that time. Caps and gowns will be distributed after rehearsal -  MAKE YOUR WORK PLANS NOW TO BE AT REHEARSAL FOR THE DURATION. Cap and gown will NOT be distributed before the end of rehearsal. Tickets will also be distributed at this time. Seniors will receive five (5) tickets each.

If you have any obligations (including in the cafeteria) or have not completed any credit recovery courses required for graduation, you will not receive your cap and gown until those are satisfied. You may check for obligations through the School Cash online app. Your parent/guardian received a passcode over the summer; you need that passcode to set your account. If they do not have the passcode, please see Ms. Hudson at the business office window before or after school or during lunch. Obligations will also include textbooks from the second semester, AP exam fees and athletic uniforms. For credit recovery, see Ms. Smith. It is in your best interest to resolve any obligations by the last day for seniors.

The last day of school for seniors is May 26th. Senior interims for MP4 is May 2.

Sign Language Interpretation at Graduation

 Individuals who need sign language interpreters or cued speech transliterators to participate in the graduation exercises should contact the Office of Interpreting Services at 240-740-1800. Requests also can be made online, www.educationalinterpreters.com/mcps. Parents/guardians or students with questions also may email the office at MCPSinterpretingservices@MCPSmd.org

Please give as much notice as possible to enable staff to provide the accommodations requested. Request should be received no later than February 28, 2023.

Graduation Date for Class of 2023 Tentatively Approved

Trojan seniors and senior families -

We have received information from MCPS that the TENTATIVE Graduation Ceremony date for Gaithersburg High School will be as follows:

- DATE:  Monday; June 12th

- TIME:  10:00 am to ~12:00 pm

- LOCATION:  Gaithersburg HS Stadium

MCPS still has to confirm contracts and other administrative items before solidifying the date/time.  Once confirmed, we will communicate that to our community.

We will also be sharing more Graduation-related information with our students and families in early 2023 and throughout the spring months leading up to the commencement ceremony. Announcements will be posted on this page. 

Seniors: The last day for seniors will be Friday; May 26th, 2023.

Attention Seniors:

There are only 3 more chances for you to have your Senior Portrait taken here at Gaithersburg High School. After these dates you will have to go to the Prestige Portraits studio in Rockville if you want your photo taken.

The upcoming dates are:

• Saturday, December 3

• Tuesday, December 6 

• Friday, December 9
