How do they help students and families?
o School counselors provide individual guidance for students' social, emotional, and educational support.
o Create and utilize programs that improve students’ success, understanding each student’s individual differences.
o Implement curriculum to address the academic and developmental needs of students.
o Monitor student behaviors that could lead to social problems, low self-esteem or learning issues, and implement interventions
o Lead small and large group lessons schedule to promote character education and student well-being
o Consider students’ career/academic goals and assist them to set realistic action steps.
o Organize programs for families to provide information to help parents meet the educational needs of their student at home

How does the Parent Community Coordinator help students and families?
Home-school liaison to help ESOL-students' families engage and support students
Connecting families to school/ community resources and support families in meetings, personal and school concerns.
Help ESOL-student families understand MCPS programs, curriculum, services, policies and procedures.
Assist with informal translation and language support for school meetings, workshops and other events.
Support MCPS extended summer learning and enrichment programs.
