MYP at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. MS
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School became an International Baccalaureate World School, offering the Middle Years Programme in December 2016.
Dr. MLK MS offers the Middle Years Programme as an inclusive, whole-school model. We believe that all students are capable of achieving high levels when they are challenged, nurtured and supported. MYP provides a healthy balance of academic support and extension that will help all students perform to their full potential.
All Dr. MLK MS students articulate to Seneca Valley High School, an IB World School, offering the Middle Years Programme, Diploma Programme and the Career-related Programme. Students can earn the Middle Years Programme certificate in 10th grade with the successful completion of the program and the Personal Project.
When students have announcements about their community projects we will post those here.
We have a strong belief in the power of education and that all students can achieve academic success which allows us to inspire and guide students to be lifelong academic leaders and thoughtful citizens who are committed to improving themselves, their community, the country, and the world. Our vision is to be the best middle school in the nation at providing an education that helps every student in our community reach their full potential.
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
