Six things to know about our spelling routine:
Every two weeks, a new spelling list and instructions are provided.
Spelling lists will follow the same pattern of study. However, we will provide a spelling list named A and B for differentiation purposes.ย
Each day, students are expected to work on their spelling.
Students will use the spelling menu to practice at home and school.
Students at home should practice one or two exercises from the spelling menu. Do not practice for longer than 5-10 minutes.
Unless otherwise specified, a spelling test will be administered after the two-week term.
Created by Dr. Rudine Sims Bishop, Mirrors, Windows, and Sliding Glass Doors, is one of the most powerful frameworks to use with reading. When readers recognize themselves mirrored in the pages of a book, that book becomes a mirror. When books give readers a glimpse into lives and experiences distinct from their own, they function as windows. Books transform into sliding glass doors when readers are drawn into the story's universe and express empathy for the characters.
