Greetings Brookhaven students and parents!

I'm super excited to be joining the Bobcat team this year as your new Professional School Counselor.

Prior to joining the Brookhaven family, I was a School Counselor for 3 years in the Prince George's County Public School system. I completed my Counseling degree at Liberty University after being a Behavioral Specialist for 3 years and a Paraprofessional for 2 years in the District of Columbia Public School system. Overall, I've been working in the educational field in various positions for 15 years and am very passionate about supporting students through their social/emotional/academic development and struggles.

Some people like football, others are passionate about reading, but what I find fascinating is talking to, connecting with, and helping young people. I would like the students at Brookhaven Elementary to think of my office as a warm and friendly place, where they are always welcome. My office is also a safe haven – a place where they can get help if they feel confused or worried.

Brookhaven Elementary is a great school, but that doesn’t mean that our students won’t face challenges while they are here. I would like for our children to know that they have an ally, and that there is always an adult at the school who will be on their side.

As a School Counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, social/emotional development of all students. I look forward to offering support to the students, staff, families at Brookhaven Elementary.

Estoy muy emocionada de unirme al equipo de Bobcat este año como su nueva consejera escolar profesional.

Antes de unirme a la familia Brookhaven, fui consejero escolar durante 3 años en el sistema de escuelas públicas del condado de Prince George. Completé mi título de Consejería en Liberty University después de ser Especialista en Comportamiento durante 3 años y Paraprofesional durante 2 años en el sistema de Escuelas Públicas del Distrito de Columbia. En general, he estado trabajando en el campo educativo en varios puestos durante 15 años y me apasiona mucho apoyar a los estudiantes a través de su desarrollo y sus dificultades sociales, emocionales y académicas.

A algunas personas les gusta el fútbol, ​​a otras les apasiona leer, pero lo que me fascina es hablar, conectar y ayudar a los jóvenes. Me gustaría que los estudiantes de la Escuela Primaria Brookhaven pensaran en mi oficina como un lugar cálido y amigable, donde siempre son bienvenidos. Mi oficina también es un refugio seguro, un lugar donde pueden obtener ayuda si se sienten confundidos o preocupados.

Brookhaven Elementary es una gran escuela, pero eso no significa que nuestros estudiantes no enfrentarán desafíos mientras estén aquí. Me gustaría que nuestros niños sepan que tienen un aliado, y que siempre hay un adulto en la escuela que estará de su lado.

Como consejera escolar, mi principal responsabilidad es promover el desarrollo académico, social y emocional de todos los estudiantes. Espero poder ofrecer apoyo a los estudiantes, el personal y las familias de la escuela primaria Brookhaven.
