Student ID's
All Seneca Valley students are required to have their school ID visible at all times during the school day. Students will receive reminders throughout the day.
Students are also required to show their physical ID to enter any school events. We will no longer accept IDs shown on phones through StudentVue.
If you have not been issued a physical ID or have lost your ID, please see Ms. Boone at the security office. Students can get one temporary ID if they leave their ID at home. If a student loses their ID, lanyard, or ID holder, there is a charge to replace them.
This is to continue our efforts on the safety and well-being of students and staff, not just during our instructional day, but at school events as well. Please help us by reminding your student to carry and display their ID daily.
To report your child's absence, here are a few quick steps to submit an absence:
Log In: Open the ParentVUE portal or mobile app.
Select Student: Choose the child you are reporting for.
Report Absence: Click the "Attendance" tab, select "Report Absence," and enter the date and reason.
We truly appreciate your patience and cooperation as we transition to this new system. If you need assistance logging in or navigating the portal, please contact the main office for support.
Once the late bell rings, students without a pass will be marked late.
High school students with excessive absences, both lawful and unlawful, may be referred for appropriate intervention. The school counselor will consult with the student and the parents/guardians, verify the reasons for the absences, and determine the appropriate interventions.
At the discretion of the principal/designee, students who demonstrate a pattern of absences may be referred to appropriate staff and/or outside agencies for intensive interventions designed to increase regular attendance.
School counselors/administrative teams may use an Attendance Intervention Plan (AIP) as a form of intervention to improve student attendance.
An AIP is developed for each of the student’s courses that have been identified for intervention.
The school will be open at 7:00 a.m. every morning, and unless staying after school for an extracurricular activity, students are expected to exit by 2:45 p.m. daily.
There are two entrances to campus on Crystal Rock Drive that are available for student drop-off.
The main entrance/bus loop (also the largest entrance) is directly next to the sign that says "Seneca Valley High School." Vehicles are prohibited from using this loop immediately before or after school. When possible, security will be at the top of the loop to guide you to the appropriate drop-off/pick-up entrance.
The second entrance (Nearest to the intersection of Crystal Rock Drive and Wisteria Drive) is the drop-off/pick-up loop. This is a very long loop that can accommodate many cars at one time. Parents are asked to pull as far up as they can.
Please do not drop your students off in the middle of the parking lot, and definitely do not try to pass other vehicles to exit the loop faster. During the Thursday morning 9th-grade and New Student Orientation, we will practice this process with parents. Drop-off will only go smoothly when everyone cooperates and demonstrates patience. When cars try to cut the line or drive past the line to exit sooner, significant slowdowns occur. If we all work together, we will be able to get you in and out very quickly.
With the number of students that are riding their bikes, electric scooters, and skate boards to school we have created a lane dedicated for them when they enter the bus loop. Students are expected to use this lane until they reach the crosswalk. At the cross walk they need to walk their bike, scooter, skate boards across the crosswalk and on the sidewalk. There will be a sign at the top of the lane.
This map outlines designated parking areas and traffic expectations for Seneca Valley High School. Short-term parking (8:00 am – 1:30 pm) is available along Crystal Rock Drive for quick visits. The main front loop is reserved for official MCPS vehicles, visitors, and buses only, ensuring safe and efficient student drop-off and pick-up.
Areas marked in red are strictly no-parking zones at all times to maintain clear traffic flow and emergency access. Visitors are encouraged to follow posted signage and use designated spaces to help keep campus operations running smoothly and safely.
Caregivers picking up students after 1:30 pm are prohibited from entering the bus loop.

To ensure pedestrian safety, please use these safety tips:
Cross the street at marked crosswalks whenever possible.
Stop and look every time before crossing streets, even when you have the right-of-way, and especially at intersections with "right turn on red."
Before crossing, look left, right, then left again, and over your shoulder for turning vehicles.
Begin crossing the street on "Walk" signals-never on a solid or flashing "Don't Walk."
Use pedestrian pushbuttons to activate/extend the walk signal.
Use sidewalks. If none, walk facing traffic so you see vehicles, and drivers see you.
Make eye contact with drivers so they see you. Never assume they do.
Stay visible after dark and in bad weather with reflectors or retroreflective clothing.
Beginning this school year, MCPS is implementing No Cell, Bell to Bell across all grade levels as part of our transition to the Maryland Phone-Free School Act. The safest learning environments are the ones where distractions are mitigated and managed. Limiting the use of personal mobile devices during the school day supports both learning and school safety. We recognize that parents and guardians may occasionally need to communicate with their child during school hours; please follow these instructions should you need to make contact with your child during the school day.
Students are not permitted to order from food delivery services (DoorDash, Grubhub, Uber Eats, etc.) during the school day at Seneca Valley High School. All deliveries will be declined at the door, and students are not to meet drivers at the exterior doors of the building.
Seneca Valley is a closed-lunch school. Students are not to leave the building during lunch. Students who attempt to return to school without being signed in by a parent/caregiver or a doctor’s note will not be permitted to attend classes for the remainder of the day.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and orderly environment.
The MCPS Code of Conduct and A Student's Guide to Rights & Responsibilities will be distributed to all students in September.
They are also available online at http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/students/rights.
