Hey Tutors! Do you know that many colleges have peer-run writing centers like Blake’s?
Be sure to mention that you have worked as a writing tutor (already in high school!) on your college applications, and investigate whether the college offers scholarships or work-study opportunities to continue tutoring in college!
Here are just a few of the schools that I know that offer peer-run writing centers:
Bowdoin College~~Carleton College~~Catholic University~~Coe College~~Colgate University~~Cornell University~~Davidson College~~Dickinson College~~Drexel University~~George Washington University ~~Loyola University Maryland~~Middlebury College~~Morgan State University~~Northeastern University~~Princeton University~~Salisbury University~~Scripps College~~Stetson University~~The University of Chicago~~Towson University~~Tufts University~~UNC Chapel Hill~~University of Maryland~~University of Pittsburgh~~UVA~~University of Iowa~~University of Texas, Austin~~William and Mary
The SSL Form is a PDF. You need to print it (which can be done for free in the Writing Center/A103 or in the Media Center), fill it out, and bring it to Dr. V or Mr. Bing to sign. You can find the number of hours you worked on the TUTOR Sign-In.
Turn in your SSL Form in the Counseling Office. There is a bin on a filing cabinet, just toss it in there and the counseling department will process it for you!
TUTOR Sign-In and STUDENT Sign-In are linked in case Dr. V or Mr. Bing aren't here. Please be honest about when you worked.
TUTOR Reflection is the reflection form that you are supposed to fill out after every session. They validate your work, so don't forget to fill it out after each conference you hold.
