School Counseling Mission
The counseling program at Rachel Carson ensures all students will receive equitable opportunities and are in an inclusive environment. Our counseling program focuses on exposing students to academic, career, health, and personal/social development. We are committed to addressing barriers and promoting positive changes through collaboration with school staff, parents, and community stakeholders.
Role of the Counselor
The school counselor's role is to help support students social and emotional well-being. In addition, we teach students healthy strategies for managing strong emotions.
Classroom Lessons
Counselors visit classrooms monthly to conduct social emotional lessons.
Small group lessons
Counselors conduct small group lessons based on student needs. Groups run 6-8 weeks.
Individual Counseling
Students have the opportunity to meet one-to-one with counselors for short term.
