Welcome to our class page!

My name is Katie McDaniel and this is the beginning of my sixteenth year teaching fifth grade. I started my teaching career at Kipps Elementary School in Blacksburg, Virginia where I taught for 7 years. After taking a year off to be with my son Alex, I joined the AES family in 2013. Teaching is my passion and I can't wait to share my love of learning with you.

I am originally from West Virginia however I have lived in Virginia most of my life. I started attending Montgomery County Public Schools when I was in the second grade. I graduated from Christiansburg High School in 2000 then went on to Radford University. I now live in Riner and love being part of this awesome community.

In our classroom I like to have fun, but also expect a lot of hard work, both academically and behaviorally. Fifth grade is full of wonderful opportunities to challenge yourself and I am looking to starting our adventures together.
