Mrs. Cox's 5th Grade Website
Note from your teacher:
Welcome to 5th grade! I am so happy to have you in my class this year. I know this year is going to be different from other years so I am hoping to use this webpage to keep us united and up to date with events and assignments. You will find helpful links on this site that will help you be a successful 5th grader. We will also be using Google Classroom to complete and turn in assignments. In my classroom, I expect your best both academically and behaviorally. We will work as a team so that each student will gain confidence both academically and socially by setting goals and then meeting them! Get ready, get set, and GO have an amazing year!
About Mrs. Cox:
I am originally from Wise County, VA where most of my family still live. I currently live in Riner with my husband, daughter (Carleigh) age 5, son (Jackston) age 2, 2 dogs (Diesel & Harley- Blue Heelers) and 7 chickens (Nosey Rosey, Blue Belle, Star, Sparkle, Betty, Henrietta, and Tinkle).
After school in the fall/winter months, I am usually with my family working on our Christmas tree farm just down from our house. During the spring/summer months you will find me preparing our garden or mowing at the tree farm!
I graduated from Auburn High School in 2004. I then went to Radford University to become a high school history teacher but then had a change of heart and switched to Elementary Education. I graduated from RU in 2008 and began teaching in 2010 at Christiansburg Elementary. In 2014, I decided to get my masters from Radford University in Curriculum and Instruction with an endorsement in Gifted Education, I graduated in 2016. In 2015, I transferred to AES and became part of the Auburn Community again.
This is my 11th year teaching. I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade both at Christiansburg and Auburn Elementary. This will be my 5th year at Auburn. I love being apart of the small Auburn community that allows me to watch my students grow into amazing individuals!
