Pre-Calculus Project (due after Winter Break):

Welcome to Pre-Calculus! Here we will post information such as announcements and important dates.

Course Description: In addition to covering all of the key concepts found in a traditional trigonometry, pre-calculus, or math analysis course, this course emphasizes several big ideas that form a foundation for calculus and other college mathematics curricula. This course uses the CPM Pre-Calculus Curriculum and will have a strong emphasis on group learning and group work. The teacher will act mainly as a facilitator in this learning process. Students should be prepared to take a very active role in their own learning.

Grading

Semester Work

Practice…………………………………………………………………………..10%

Independent Practice

Independent Practice is graded on completion and accuracy and will be collected regularly. Homework will go into the practice category of the gradebook. Late homework is due the day of the team test for that chapter.

Team Assessments

A team test will be given following each chapter. Each team member MUST be contributing to the test. If you miss any team tests, be prepared to make it up on your own or with students from another class.

Topic Check-ins

Topic check-ins will be announced in advance and will give you the opportunity to gauge your current level of understanding before seeing it on the formal assessment. It will go into the practice category.

Individual Assessments……………………………….…………………………90%

Individual Assessments

There will be four individual tests each semester. Each problem will receive an individual score based on a learning target. There will also be a cumulative exam at the end of the semester. If know you are going to miss an exam, please let me know and we can schedule a make-up time. For more information on tests, please see the testing policy.
