How does Summer School work in MCPASD?
The MCPASD 2021 High School Summer School program will run for 6 weeks (June 21- July 29).
The MCPASD 2021 Summer School Program will be in person at Clark Street Community School. Summer School is Monday-Thursday, 8:30am - 11:45am
Students will have assigned class times based on what courses/skills they need to recover/strengthen and therefore may not need to be in the building all four days.
Coursework will be modified and differentiated to meet individual student needs for all students. Special education support will be available to students.
Students will be assessed using a Pass/No Pass system in Summer School. Students will have the opportunity to earn credits towards graduation and build skills to support success in future courses but will not be able to enroll in Summer School for the purposes of advancement.
Transportation will be available for students at pre-determined stops.

Attendance & Engagement
Attendance will be a critical part of Summer School for students to truly engage in the learning opportunities and gain the skills they need to be successful next year. If there are barriers students are facing in attending classes, please let the Teacher, Student Services Staff and/or Principals know so we can develop a plan to support their success.
*If a plan cannot be sustained, the student may not receive credit for the summer school course.
Students having difficulty completing work independently may be encouraged to attend in the building more often to receive additional support.
Will students be able to take Enrichment Physical Education for original credit?
Phy Ed will be offered for students who did not pass this school year AND students who did not take Phy Ed this school year and need the credit for graduation.
Students who want to take Phy Ed to clear a space for an elective next year will likely not be able to take it through Summer School but are welcome to fill out the application and if space becomes available, will be contacted to see if they are still interested.
Will Transportation be offered?
Yes, there will be three drop-off/pickup locations, dependent on student need. When students apply for summer school, there will be a place to indicate transportation needs.
How To Sign Up For Summer School:
Check with your School Counselor or Advisor to find out which course(s) make the most sense for you to take over summer school.
Complete the Online Application Form (Click Here) OR pick up a paper copy of the application in Student Services. Enrollment is based on the number of available seats, which emphasizes the importance of early registration. The requested deadline for submitting an application is Friday, May 28th. We will continue to accept applications after this date on a space available basis.
Students should register for summer school even if there is a chance they may pass a course they are currently failing or close to failing. We cannot guarantee placement beyond June 4th. Summer school classes may be dropped if the student ends up passing the semester.
Students and parents/guardians are invited to attend an online Summer School Information Meeting on Wednesday, May 26th, 7:00 p.m (English) or 6:00pm (Spanish).
Summer School Staff will reach out to students about their schedule the week of June 14th.
