Welcome to Calculus!! The purpose of this course is to prepare you for the AP Calculus exam as well as prepare you to take second semester Calculus at any College/University.

Homework

We view homework as part of the practice you must do in order to succeed in this class! You will be expected to complete the assigned homework problems from each section at a minimum. We will give suggested problems, but remember that this is only a minimum of what you should do for homework. Your homework will be checked daily for completion as seen appropriate by your teacher.

Team Assessments

At the end of each chapter you will take a formative team assessment. The purpose of team assessments is to provide a learning opportunity within your team by working through challenging problems that require collaboration and mathematical discussion.

INDIVIDUAL ASSESSMENTS (show off what you know!)

Chapter Tests

At the end of each chapter, students will have the opportunity to show what they have learned on a test focusing mostly on the material from that chapter. Because of the cumulative nature of mathematics, previous material is always fair game on any assessment.

Cumulative Tests

A cumulative test similar to the AP Exam will be given in the middle and at the end of each semester. The cumulative tests will consist of multiple choice questions. Retakes will not be given on cumulative assessments. Grades on these tests will be curved similar to the AP exam.

3.5 Concept good-minor computational mistake

3 Minor conceptual mistake or more serious computational mistake

2 Major conceptual mistake

1 Some work that is related to the problem

GRADE BREAKDOWN:

90% of your grade will be based on your individual assessments

10% of your grade will be based on your practice

Note: Your cumulative semester exams will be recorded in the individual assessment portion of your grade
