Scott Weinhold is a musician, educator, producer, and retired U.S. Army Sergeant Major whose career has taken him from major stages and international tours to leadership roles with The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own.”

Scott earned a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY, and a Master of Music in Saxophone Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. He also studied jazz at Indiana University.

Scott began his professional career in 1995 touring with the Glenn Miller Orchestra. He later taught music in Cincinnati Public Schools and at Miami University and worked as a freelance musician. His performing career also included engagements with Seabourn Cruise Lines, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and the national touring production of Chicago.

In 2001, Scott joined The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” where he performed on saxophone, flute, and clarinet with the Ceremonial Band, Concert Band, Army Blues Jazz Ensemble, and Down Range. During his 22-year Army career, he performed throughout the United States and internationally, including three USO tours for troops in Kuwait, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and Iraq.

Scott's work with TUSAB eventually expanded beyond performing. In 2012, he produced the historic “Friendship and Cooperation Through Music” concert series with the Central Military Band of the People’s Liberation Army in Beijing, Nanjing, and Shanghai. He also produced TUSAB's participation in an international military tattoo in Oslo, Norway.

In 2015, Scott left full-time performing to become TUSAB's Senior Producer. In that role, he produced complex, large-scale events supporting the mission of the Military District of Washington and served as the band's primary liaison with senior military leadership and outside organizations. His responsibilities included coordinating musical, technical, operational, and logistical support for events including National Memorial Day, National Veterans Day, the National Easter Sunrise Service, the Army Ten-Miler, Pageant of Peace, National Menorah Lighting, AUSA's annual convention, Army birthday celebrations in Times Square, Defenders' Day, and numerous concerts on the National Mall.

Scott completed his Army career as a Sergeant Major and Element Leader for TUSAB's Support Element, leading approximately 40 Soldiers across operations, human resources, technical support, library and arranging, resource management, logistics, transportation, public affairs, social media, and information management.

Scott's connection to McLean High School began in 2003 when he became the director of the school's jazz ensemble. After retiring from the Army in 2023, he returned to McLean High School full-time as Associate Band Director, where he co-teaches the bands and directs the jazz program.

Scott remains an active performer in the Washington, DC area and continues to perform at public and private events. Outside of music, he enjoys trail running, cycling, hiking, good food, and traveling.
