Year 10 Creative Writing

Year 10 Creative Writing aims to give students an opportunity to explore and develop their creative and critical voices across a variety of literary forms and types. Over the course of the subject, students unpack and experiment with the foundational narrative elements of Short Stories; tackle the myriad elements of various genres; and play within the exciting and strange language games of Poetry.

Students will have various opportunities to present their work - including an in class SLAM Event and an afternoon of Poetry - and will examine a variety of prompts and stimulus for writing. Importantly, everything is framed self-reflectively: the purpose of the subject - beyond writing - is to get students to critically consider how and why they write, effectively equipping them with a literary language well-suited for English and Literature in VCE.
