The following information answers most Frequently Asked Questions.
Human Resources makes an employment offer to the candidates the hiring administrators recommend to hire.
HR Specialists contact recommended candidates by phone and/or email. Candidates must respond accepting the offer, so onboarding can begin.
WHAT
At the orientation, HR and Payroll will process the final new hire paperwork. Presenters will provide information to familiarize you with the city of McKinney, school district processes, procedures, mission, vision, goals, regulations, and support available to you throughout your first year with McKinney ISD.
WHEN
During the Summer, new employees receive instructions to sign up for one of the New Hire Orientation available dates.
During the school year, new employees and HR Specialists schedule a date for small group or individual New Hire Orientations.
WHERE
During the Summer, New Hire Orientations are held at the Community Event Center (CEC), located inside the MISD Stadium.
During the school year, small group or individual New Hire Orientations are held at MISD Central Office.
Instructions and link to sign up for New Hire Orientation are included in the Onboarding email from the HR Specialists.
Acceptable documents for the I-9 Form -employment eligibility verification- (e.g., driver license, passport, etc.).
Original Social Security card, for payroll purposes.
If you have original Service Records and original College Transcripts, you may bring them to the orientation.
ID badges are issued by the Human Resources department.
ID badges access is set up by the Security department.
MISD badges may be used to clock in using TimeClock Plus (TCP) machine; however, employees may also clock in by typing their 6-digit employee numbers.
MISD badge may be used to log into the campus printers/copiers; however, employees may also log in by typing their 6-digit employee numbers.

New employees must log into the benefits portal to either enroll or decline benefits coverage within 30 days of the hire date (first day of work).

Employee contracts are issued and signed electronically. Upon acceptance, employees receive an email with the accepted contract attached as a PDF file to save for future reference.
Employment contracts don't include salary information.

The direct deposit form is processed by the Payroll department, and it is available at https://www.mckinneyisd.net/business-finance/ in the Payroll Calendars & Forms section.
A form is completed at the time of hiring. A new form is required to request changing the financial institution for payroll direct deposit.

All employees must sign up for payroll direct deposit. Employees are paid twice a month, on the 15th and the last day of each moth. Click Here for the payroll calendars (scroll down to the Payroll Calendars & Forms section).

Service records are used to calculate salary. New employees first paycheck will reflect the salary according to service records received by HR.
Recently hired employees must submit any pending service records within 90 days from hiring date (first day at work). Once received, salary is retroactively adjusted to the hire date.

McKinney ISD implemented the use of a Single Sign On (SSO) system to reduce the number of passwords that staff, students, and parents had to create and remember to log into different MISD applications,
SSO allows staff, students, and parents to log into MISD applications with their MISD network User ID and Password.
