Standard II. Learner-Centered Program Leadership and Management
Goal:
To demonstrate effective school library program leadership and management throughout the school, the district, and in local, state, and national activities and associations.
Principle 1:
Planning: As an advocate for libraries, the librarian leads in the development and implementation of a library vision, mission, goals, objectives, and strategic plan that incorporate sound policies and practices.
Noticing several areas the campus scored lower in based on recent Bright Bytes data (and teacher/student survey data) to hit the needs of all learners, the librarian applied for a Podcasting grant. While waiting, she was able to obtain a free trial for ListenWise for all campus teachers.
Principle 4:
Research/Assessment/Reporting: The librarian manages a successful program by demonstrating the value of the library program through research, data collection, assessment, evaluation, and dissemination of information about services and resources.
Librarian notices and looks for trends (areas of need, areas of improvement, areas declining...)
Used to disseminate information
STR became a required practice for all Webb teachers this year. This means many staff meetings and PD opportunities were put on hold this year to give time for teachers to study and finish modules. Potty PD's were a creative way to still share new tools/ideas for teachers to implement within the classroom.
Another example
Often resources weren't being communicated to all staff. Therefore, the Learning Commons News was a section that was added to the Staff Weekly Newsletter. This section allowed resources to be communicated to teachers and updated on a weekly basis.
