Founded in 1928, the McKeesport High School Marching Band seeks to provide its members with a quality performing arts education, enhance teamwork and time management skills, and promote a sense of pride in the community. The McKeesport band seeks to achieve its mission through rigorous standards of excellence in rehearsal and performance settings.
Competition Philosophy
The McKeesport High School Marching Band competes in the Tournament of Bands (TOB) and Pennsylvania Interscholastic Marching Band Association (PIMBA) circuits. Competitions are viewed as an educational opportunity for individual and program growth as well as staff development.
The McKeesport Area High School marching band is open to any student of the McKeesport Area Senior High School, as well as any 9th - 12th grade student who lives in the McKeesport Area School District but attends a school that does not sponsor a marching band program. Positions are available for select middle school students on an as-needed basis.
Any student or parent who wishes to get involved with the marching band, or would like more information about the band program in general, can reach out to Mr. Crawford at ncrawford@mckasd.net!
Ever since my first year of marching band as an 8th grader in 2010, I have loved the activity, performing for 5 years in my high school marching band before going to college and performing for 3 years with the Cadets and Cadets2 drum and bugle corps, 3 years in the Pitt Band, and 1 year with the Nomad Indoor Drumline. In addition to performing, I have been fortunate to teach for multiple groups, including 2 years with the Skyliners drum and bugle corps, 3 years with the Bloomsburg University marching band, and 4 years with the Bloomsburg High School marching band. When not performing or teaching, I enjoy cooking, hiking, swimming, and being outside.
