In addition to signing up for band, students must also sign up for percussion. Failure to sign up prior to audition day is an automatic cut from auditions. Other than medical issues with a doctor's note, NO exceptions will be made.
You must also join the group chat, which is where you can reach out to me for questions/concerns, and read important announcements. Except for serious emergencies, This chat is the only way I can communicate.

Auditions can be intimidating and stressful, but please do not take the results of the audition personally. Your fellow students are not against you, they are for themselves. Even if you do not make it despite your best efforts, you have still improved as a musician, and that's what's most important!
The following spots are available on Drumline:
3 spots for Snare Drum
3 spots for Bass Drum
2 spots for Tenor Drums
Your placement depends on the following things:
Your put-together-ness. Were you reading announcements and messages? Doing your assignments and doing them on time? Showing Up? Bringing all your stuff to rehearsal? Abiding by the expectations listed on this website?
Your ability to play everything in the Marengo Percussion Packet.

Expectations
The Marengo Percussion Motto: Have fun and don't suck! So long as we abide by the expectations listed here and in the band handbook, I am more than willing to make this as enjoyable as it can be.
Below is the Band Handbook which contains all of our policies and expectations
PERCUSSIONISTS ARE EXPECTED TO READ THE RULES IN THE HANDBOOK AS WELL AS THE RULES ON THIS WEBSITE.
ADDITIONAL PERCUSSION EXPECTATIONS
ALL percussionists must attend the percussion rehearsals. Grades will be affected if not.
At the BEGINNING of each rehearsal (both full band and percussion):
You have all of our required music and assignments, PRINTED
You have drumsticks and hearing protection
You are ready to play by the time rehearsal starts.
At the END of each rehearsal (both full band and percussion):
Put drums back in the cases
Put said cases back in their designated location
Put drum stands back in their designated location
Put carriers back in their designated location
Put all tools back in the drum bag in their proper place within the bag
Put the drum bag back in its designated location
If the drums got wet, THOROUGHLY dry them off. If I find moisture, that will be factored into audition results next year, and possibly grades.
Once the above are done, THEN you can leave.

There are a total of 5 assignments, due on the following dates each season:
The 30th of August
The 15th and 30th of September
The 15th and 30th of October
Percussion specific assignments are not graded but WILL affect audition results.
Rehearsals and Performance Dates

FULL BAND REHEARSES ON:
Tuesday nights, AROUND 5pm to AROUND 8pm. Time may vary from year to year.
PERCUSSION REHEARSES ON:
Wednesdays, 5pm to 7pm.Â
The first rehearsal is the first Wednesday after the first day of school. The last rehearsal is the Wednesday before our last performance.
The calendar below contains all of our performance and rehearsal dates.
All dates and times mentioned above are final, and will NOT be adjusted based on student needs. Students must be the ones to determine whether these dates and times work for them. Therefore, when a student joins Marengo Percussion, I assume these dates and times work for them, and WILL hold them accountable.
The band handbook goes into more detail about which types of absences are excused, and which are not.
