My journey to starting Elder Advocate began with my mother Pat. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s 4 months after my Father died. I provided care for her for 14 years while raising my 2 children. We navigated through several stages:
caregivers in her home
a move to a independent living community
assisted living
memory care
hospice care
The journey was heartbreaking at times as the disease gradually stole my mom from me, but it also brought me great joy in knowing my efforts helped make my mom's life the best it could possibly be. I learned a tremendous amount in going through this process - much of it the hard way. It was a desire to share the knowledge I learned that inspired me to create Elder Advocate with the mission to help others make their life journey easier.
