Waubesa Library Procedures and Policies

When is my child's library day?

Everyday is library day at Waubesa! Students are encouraged to check out and return materials on an as needed basis. Students have a scheduled Library / STEAM class once every 6 days as per the Related Arts rotation calendar. In addition, we offer 24 hour access to digital resources through iPad Apps and links on our library website. Students may come to the library before and after school. During class time and lunch a pass from a staff member is required.

How many books can my child check out?

Students may check out five materials at a time (additional materials may be checked out for class assignments) for a 2-week period and may be renewed as needed. Books with a waiting list for other students can only be renewed once.

Is there a way for me to see what my child has checked out and when it's due?

Your child must log into their Destiny account using their Google Single sign on. Them look under My Stuff and Checkouts.

What happens if a library material is returned late?

We do not charge overdue fines. We smile and say, "Thank you! Now another student can check this out and you can get a new book to read".

What if a book gets damaged?

Many times we can repair a book. Please don't try to fix it. Alert us to the page or section of the book that needs repair and we will use our special tape or glue to do our magic.

If the damage to the book is beyond repair, you may either purchase an exact copy replacement and donate it or pay a replacement fee that will be posted in your child's Infinite Campus account.

What happens if a book is lost?

All students in the district are responsible for lost or damaged library-media materials that are checked out to them. All district library materials must be returned to the library by the last day of the school year. The full replacement cost of any unreturned or damaged library item will be charged to the student’s Infinite Campus account in June. Because the funds are used to purchase replacements, if a book is found after payment has been made, the district will not issue refunds. The student may either keep the book or return it as a donation to the library. Any items checked out at the time a student withdraws from school must be returned or paid for upon withdrawal.

How will I know if my child has overdue or missing books?

You can ask your child to login to their Destiny account and check the My Stuff menu.

Email notices will also be sent to both the student's school email and the guardians' emails at least once a quarter listing any books that are overdue.

Can my child check books out from other schools in our district?

Yes! We loan books out to each other all the time. If a book is requested that is reviewed for an older audience, we require a signed note or email from a guardian giving their child permission to receive the book.
