Keep in mind that EUs, EQs, and Big Ideas describe generalized concepts. An EU on "systems and cycles" will certainly apply to a discipline like science but also applies to ways of working and thinking in other fields like economics, history, linguistics, or music. EUs guide our planning and instruction, but they are typically and intentionally developed though the specifics of, say, "the water cycle" in science, or "the circle of of 5ths" in music, or "number agreement" in grammar/languages, etc.
When consulting these, look at the Enduring Understandings first and work backwards. When you are grounded in the understanding(s), you can then select content to help students develop that content. See this page for ways to use backwards design when planning.
