READ-A-THON RULES
· Set a reading goal! Here are recommended minimum daily reading goals by grade:
o Kindergarten: 20 minutes per day
o 1st and 2nd grades: 20-30 minutes per day
o 3rd-6th grades: 30-60 minutes per day
· The Read-A-Thon starts on Friday, February 6th and ends Friday, February 20th.
· Start reading and recording your minutes on Friday, February 6th, keeping track of how many minutes you read daily.
· Submit reading logs online each Friday by midnight using your individualized link sent to your email.
· What counts for minutes??
o Any reading before and after school
o Reading during class time
o Reading to others
o Being read to by others
o Listening to Audiobooks or read-a-louds (parents or teachers can discern if there is a limit needed)
o Reading assigned homework
o One student reading to another student counts for minutes towards BOTH students’ reading logs!
· Please be honest with recording your exact minutes so that it will be fair and fun for everyone!
FUNDRAISING
· We are fundraising for our general PTO fund to continue providing as many free and fun events for our entire school community. Our goal is to raise $10,000!
· Your student’s Read A Thon page will be sent from 99 Pledges to the email you provided on Feb. 6.
· There is a link in the email to share with friends and family or post on social media to help raise money for our school!
· Donations as a lump sum are preferred, but can also be done on a per minute basis.
· Please contact the PTO (or if you prefer, Mr. Gobert or Mrs. Pearson) if you cannot submit money online and want to make other arrangements such as a check.
· All pledge money and donations must be turned in no later than Friday, Feb. 20!
· The platform we are using, 99 Pledges, is FREE and only collects the standard 3% fee for all donations. Of note, they have a place to “tip” but this does NOT go to our school or fundraiser, it goes to the platform itself.
PRIZES
· Daily drawings for prizes will occur for those that have signed up
· One MEGA raffle winner will be drawn at the conclusion event
· Each class that has 70% participation (logging minutes at least once during the 2 weeks) will win a class pizza party!
· At the end of our Read-A-Thon, 1st and 2nd place top readers per CLASS will win prizes.
· Teachers can also participate!
· The grand prize top readers will get the honor of turning our principals into a human ice cream sundae if we meet our fundraising goal of $10,000!
