How to Choose Your English Class

Students are often told that their grade(s) in their current English class should be used to determine their next English class. The truth is, there is a better way to figure out which class is right for you. It is important to remember that your English class is just 1/8 of your overall schedule. When deciding your English class, it is best to learn about the style of instruction, expectations, and workload and determine how well that class will (or will not) fit into your life and schedule. All of our classes prepare students for college and careers. We encourage you to view the videos below as you make your choices and be thinking about whether your choice fits in with the demands of your other classes, your extracurricular activities, and your life outside of school. If you select an Honors, AP, or dual-credit class like W131/L202, you will need to check out the Summer Reading page to prepare for the work you will have to complete over the summer before the start of you class.
