To ensure direct deposit changes are processed in time, they must be completed by noon Pacific time on the Friday before the pay period ends. For example, if the pay period ends on December 28, 2025, changes must be made by noon Pacific on December 26, 2025. Changes made after this deadline will not be reflected in the current pay period.

Yellow - Approved by employee but not by manager
Pink - Approved by the manager but not the employee
Green - Approved by both employee and manager
Grey - Timecard has been signed off
A change was made in that salaried employees' timecards will automatically populate (timecards will no longer show) with your weekly hours, which you will no longer need to approve, and you will only need to request time off.
The time off request tool is the only way to reflect time off on your timecard. If you take an unexpected sick day, you will complete a time off request for that sick day when you return to work. This is the new process to get sick time reported on your timecard.
These are grants expected to occur between the "as-of" date and the end of the reporting period.
All employees need to use the new time off request tool for all types time off. This includes: sick, vacation, personal bank, jury duty, bereavement, etc.
No, you do not need to utilize VPN to access the new system. Instead, the system will use single sign-on. This means that you will automatically be logged in to UKG as long as you have logged in to Okta that day.
Click on the Sign in with your company (SSO) button. You will not need to enter your username and password. Please review this document for screenshots.
The 2nd stub with zero net pay generally refers to the taxation of a gift card you were provided by the company. The IRS requires that we include gift cards as part of taxable wages, but the company elects to "gross up" the value to cover the taxes so you are not burdened with the tax. This means we have to increase the gift card earnings (Prize N AwNew) to cover the value of the card and the taxes; then, we deduct the value of the card with the Zero Net Check, so you don't receive an additional check. The Zero Net Check amount should match the value of the gift card you were provided. If this is the check displayed when you select Current Pay Statement, please select “Pay History” to view links to all checks for the pay period.
If you feel this was recorded to your paycheck in error, please reach out to payroll@mcclatchy.com.
