September Prompt: 100 Word Stories/Speeches

"The Street Light"

By: Teri Decker

The street was dark as she walked to school that morning, only one street light was on- the middle one. As she walked along the side she felt something strange. Holding the straps of her backpack tighter, she continued to walk. She knew this street. Well, she thought she did. Inching closer to the street light, she heard a noise. She walked faster. As she reached the street light, she stopped underneath. Catching her breath, the light flickered. As darkness surrounded her, the street light came down and swallowed her. The light flickered, became brighter but she was no more.

"Our Generation"

By: Kayla Fleming

We have to rely on today, because we can’t do anything tomorrow. The dreams of the past generations have been built up, and yet, never acted upon. I’m sick and tired of saying and not doing. We can’t wait for this amazing generation to come along and fix everything, we have to become that generation. We have to rely on ourselves to do what we want, what we need. We have waited for so long, no more waiting. There is no way that we can live in this perfect world that we all dream of, but we can create it.

"Suspense"

By: Hawk Kienutzke

I woke to a startling noise. It was probably nothing and I should try to get back to sleep. That movement in the closet that I heard was in my head. I need to go back to sleep. Was my closet door always open? I thought I shut that before I went to bed. I pretend not to notice a shadow casted by the moonlight. I try not to believe the footsteps getting closer to my bed. When the figure is above me I think I’m in a nightmare. Those eyes looking down at me are not real. Help me.
