AT HALL TAVERN FARM
A Creative Vision Project By CAD Students at McCann Technical School
Students in the Computer Assisted Design (CAD) department ventured on a journey to create a new vision for a 1920's barn located at Hall Tavern Farm in Charlemont, Massachusetts.
Once home to a bustling dairy operation, the barn sits along side an active vintage sawmill where local lumber has been sustainably and selectively harvested for generations. The handsome barn sits at the ready for its next purpose as a collaborative space to learn, create, teach, and exhibit.
The McCann designers were tasked with creating a new vision for the barn and develop renderings of what could be of this beautiful building.
McCann Technical School would like to thank Katelyn Banks, Jeffrey Thomas, and the entire Lever Inc. team for this unique opportunity.

The students showcased above are Seniors in the CAD program at McCann Technical School and have chosen a primary concentration in Architectural Design/Engineering.
The students conducted an on-site existing conditions survey of the barn and carefully documented each post, beam and architectural feature. Katelyn Banks and Jeffrey Thomas provided background information about the property and discussed the vision for the future of the space. Also provided were fresh donuts and hot cider from local shops which were well received on that cold February day!
Once back at school the design team collaborated on ideas before taking to their CAD workstations. The design team was tasked with not only creating the design in the video (click image above), but was also responsible for effective time management, inter-office communication, file management, and project management. A project of this magnitude could easily take weeks to complete....these up and coming designers completed the task in a matter of days!
We look forward to continuing with the development of this project!
