In 2022 Marist College Canberra will be presenting THE CRIMSON FIREFLY CIRCUS by Sandra Shotlander, as our major school production!
This exciting new Australian play will take us on a journey from Bertolucci's Circus in a small country town in Australia, the local newspaper office, hospital, a warehouse/ hide-out, to the slopes of the Andes and a private Casino in Bogota, South America.
The Crimson Firefly Circus is a full length play that uses a large cast with a range of abilities and talents. It is based on mystery, comedy, humour, music and tight-rope walking!
Short overview:
Jack Bertolucci's circus loses its big top in a storm which blows apart lives from inland Australia to South America. Pete Pertwee, is sent to the circus to take photographs for the local paper, and he begins to unravel the mystery of his aunt, the renowned circus performer, The Crimson Firefly.

Students across Year 4-10 are welcome to audition. You do not have to prior performance experience to be involved.
We are seeking actors for main roles, supporting roles and ensemble performers. We are also very interested in any students who have a gymnastics background or any other athletic ability to be trained in basic circus skills such as juggling, tumbling, skating, scootering, unicycle riding and stilt walking!
Girls from Canberra Girls' Grammar School, Merici College and St Clare's College are welcome to audition. Specific information for you will be in orange.
Auditions will take place in WEEK 2 of Term 1 2022. Rehearsals will begin the following week.
Auditions for girls will be via an online audition form and video upload.
The production week is scheduled for WEEK 3 Term 3 2022.
Rehearsals will begin in Week 2, Term 1 and will take place each Tuesday & Wednesday. Closer to the production there will be some Sunday rehearsals. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be provided to all students involved in the production.
