Shrek
An enormous, fearsome-looking ogre who has chosen to live entirely alone in his swamp, having learned the hard way that the world judges him for his looks before it ever gets to know him. Gruff, sarcastic and fiercely guarded, he slowly lets his walls down over the course of the story and discovers there's more to life — and to himself — than he ever expected.

Vocal range bottom: A2
Princess Fiona
A princess who has spent years locked away in a tower awaiting rescue, Fiona carries a secret of her own: an enchantment that turns her into an ogre every night. Sharp-witted, unconventional and far tougher than she looks, she is anything but a typical fairy tale princess.
Gender: Female
Vocal range top: G5
Vocal range bottom: F3
Donkey
A motor-mouthed, endlessly chatty donkey who attaches himself to Shrek almost immediately and refuses to be shaken off. Easily spooked but relentlessly upbeat, he becomes Shrek's most loyal (and most exhausting) companion.

Vocal range bottom: C3
Lord Farquaad
The diminutive, image-obsessed ruler of Duloc, desperate to become a true king by marrying a princess. Self-important, petty and cruel beneath the pageantry, he has banished every fairy tale creature in his kingdom to keep his realm looking "perfect."
Gender: Male
Vocal range top: D5
Vocal range bottom: B2
