The Michigan City High School Wolves Esports program was established in 2022, reflecting the growing global interest in Esports as a competitive sport and a valuable educational tool. The program is part of the Indiana Esports Network (IEN), a 100% volunteer-driven, educator-led, free-to-students organization. IEN is a collective of over 100 school districts across the state, diverse in size, demographics, and socioeconomic populations, all with the same goal: to use Esports to engage students who aren’t involved in traditional athletics or afterschool activities, to increase academic performance and motivation, to create an inclusive community that fosters social growth, and to provide students with opportunities to develop 21st Century skills and career competencies.
The Wolves Esports program specifically focuses on four key goals:
Teamwork
Production and Streaming
Leadership Development
College and Career Readiness
