Meet your Librarian
Mrs. Recinos has been an educator for 21 years. Born in Merced, California to a military family, she has traveled and lived in various parts of the world. After graduating from the South Texas High School for Health Professions (00’), Elizabeth chose to pursue a career in the field of Education. In 2003, she obtained her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from the University of Texas Pan American while remaining on the University’s Dean’s List and participating as an officer in the UT CARES club.
During her tenure as an educator, she obtained various certifications including being certified to teach Pre-kinder to 8th grade, a bilingual certification, and Librarian certification (K-12).
In 2019, Elizabeth obtained her Master’s degree in Library Sciences from Texas Women’s University. She has been a librarian in Sam Houston Elementary for 4 years and was awarded the Laura Bush Foundation for America’s Libraries Grant for $5,000 in May of 2023. She was awarded teacher of the year 2024 and was recognized as an Innovative Librarian through Region One's recognition program in May of 2025. She currently resides in Edinburg with her husband, three daughters, and her three pets. Elizabeth enjoys reading, crafting, building, drinking coffee, and spending time with her family and friend’s, but mostly reading and coffee. Seriously…she likes to read.
