We, at McAllen ISD, follow the framework for student learning. The framework has several gears outlining the learning vision for our students. Emotional Intelligence is one of our gears, which serves as a guide to frame a lesson, a counseling session and the culture of a campus.

We believe that it is everyone's responsibility to teach, exemplify, and develop these skills with our students.

The five domains of our Emotional Intelligence Gear are:

Self-Awareness - To have a deep knowledge of our own emotions and how it impacts others.

Self-Regulation - The ability to manage our own emotions.

Motivation - The desire and drive behind doing something.

Empathy - The ability to be sensitive to the emotions and feelings of another person.

Social Skills - The ability to positively communicate, interact, and collaborate with others.
