Sophomore Track Athlete
Hannah Fourspring
The girls varsity track and field team has had various personal bests throughout this season. Hannah Fourspring has found success in the high jump event where she is currently tied for second in the district. Hannah also competes in the triple jump, and is part of our 4x400M relay team. She has come out on top this year in several invitationals, and will be competing in all three of her events this upcoming weekend at the district championships. Hannah has been an incredible asset to our team, shows a great deal of dedication, and is always doing what is best and what is needed in order for herself and her team to succeed. She has proven that hard work truly does pay off.

Xavier Diaz
After earning four gold medals from the 2024 PIAA District IV Track and Field meet this past weekend, Xavier Diaz became the first MCA athlete since 1998 to achieve the feat. Xavier won the 100M, 200M, and was part of both the 4x100M and 4x400M relay teams. Additionally, the Varsity Boys Track and Field team won the Team District Title, the program's first since 2000. Xavier has been an incredible part of our program in the last three years. He has proven that hard work truly does pay off, and has displayed many positive traits throughout his time with our program. He is always using the most of his practice time, shows a great deal of dedication, and is a terrific leader and role model for our team. His work ethic is second to none and he is always pushing himself past his limits. Xavier will race in all four events during the PIAA State Championships this weekend at Shippensburg University and we couldn't be more proud!

Cooper Karycki
As a freshman, Cooper Karycki has earned himself a spot on the 4x100M relay team this year with teammates Xavier Diaz, Cole Spears and Andrew Lukoskie. The team recently broke the long standing record in the event, and since then has broken it four more times. The most recent time at the PIAA District IV Championships with a new PR of 42.54. Cooper runs the 3rd leg for the relay and becomes the 5th freshman of all time at MCA to win gold at a District Championship meet. He is a dedicated athlete who has been a wonderful addition to our track and field team this year. Approaching the PIAA State Championship meet this weekend, the 4x100M relay team is currently ranked 2nd in the state of PA!

Jonathan Morgante
With a solid showing this season, the baseball team is currently ranked #2 in the district standings with a record of 9-3. Johnny Morgante has played an important role for the Red Tornadoes holding a batting average of .378, as well as leading the team with 14 hits on the year. He currently plays the 2nd base position, is second on the team in RBI's, and has the most assists on the team. Johnny's work ethic shows through his success on the field and he has been a tremendous asset to the team thus far this year.

Andrew Lukoskie
This season Andrew has been an impressive member of the varsity boys track and field team where he competes in the sprinting events (400M, 200M, 100M) as well as the Javelin, and is a member of the 4x100M and 4x400M relay teams. He has been a key component to the team's success averaging points in each of his events at dual meets and invitationals. He is the lead off runner in both of our relay teams who are currently ranked top 4 in the state for 2A. He has proven that dedication and trusting the process are keys to success in this sport.

Gavin Lasko
The baseball team is still currently sitting in the #2 spot of the PIAA District IV standings with a record of 12-5. Gavin has played a tremendous role for the Red Tornadoes this season as a catcher and hitter. He currently has 86 career hits, a 400 batting average, and an average of 500 base percentage. In the Tornadoes recent game against Tamaqua, Gavin hit two home runs to help the team win on the road and end Tamaqua's home game winning streak. Gavin has started in every game since his freshman year, and brings a great deal of leadership and knowledge to the team. We are surely excited to watch Gavin and his team compete in the postseason!

Billy Rishel

The boys varsity track and field team has had a tremendous season thus far. The team recently claimed the PHAC Division III championship title this past week, and is looking forward to the postseason this upcoming weekend. Billy Rishel has played a vital role in the Tornadoes success throughout the last two months. He is currently part of both the 4x400 and 4x800 meter relay teams where he runs the 3rd and 1st legs respectively, and additionally runs the 400M dash where he is ranked in the top 5 of the district. He has posted some impressive times so far this season, and overall is a dedicated athlete who is a true team player.

Lucas Lubinski
Lucas has been a top point winner throughout this season. Last week against Danville, Lucas took 1st place in the 50 yd Freestyle with a personal best time of 25.68 along with a 1st in his 100 yd butterfly. At the Williamsport Coaches Invitational, he achieved his season's best time in his 100 yd Butterfly with a time of 1:09.30. Lucas also swims in all the relays. He has qualified for Districts in his 100 Butterfly and his 100 Freestyle with a time of 57.51 and all Relays that he swam in and will be competing in the District swim meet on February 28 & 29.

Lukas Carpenter
Lukas placed 3rd in last weekend's sectional tournament winning both his matches with Milton and Southern Columbia to secure his spot in the District Tournament. He currently has a record of 21-9 and has been a force competitor for the Red Tornadoes all season in the 127lb weight class. Lukas had big matches this season against North Schuylkill and Warrior Run, and continues to work hard to reach his goals. He will compete at Districts this coming weekend at Williamsport HS for a chance to advance to the Regional Tournament.

With a throw 

of 38'5, Olivia was named the 2024 PTFCA Indoor State Champion in the shot put event this past Sunday in State College! She has put in countless hours of time and dedication into this sport and it surely showed to all at Sunday's Championships. Olivia competed against athletes from AA and AAA schools coming out on top overall. She will compete again at the New Balance Indoor Nationals this coming March.

Hailee Brown
Hailee recently reached a milestone for 200 strikeouts in her career against Southern Columbia in last week's game where OLOL came out on top beating the Tigers 7-6. She has a current batting average of .364 and 30 strikeouts this season. She has been a great leader for the team both on and off the playing field thus far.

Abby Klokis
During last week's win over Lewisburg, Abby played a crucial role in the team's defensive efforts, as well as controlling the ball down the court. She is a true team player, has great communication on the court, and has shown excellent strides this year. Abby is currently a team captain, and has used her experiences to help in the team's success. The Lady Red Tornadoes take on Bloomsburg tomorrow evening at Bloomsburg HS.

With a solid routine at the PIAA Competitive Cheerleading State Championships, the Varsity Competitive Cheerleading team took 7th overall in the Large Varsity division. Alivia is a senior top girl on the team and has played a crucial role this season using her talents throughout various aspects of the team's routine. She is a true team player, shows a great deal of dedication, and is always doing what is best and what is needed in order for her team to succeed.

Trinity Miller
Trinity is a first year member of the bocce ball team and has displayed great sportsmanship throughout the season always with a smile on her face. During both recent bocce matches, Trinity was very strategic and made great plays to help get the team points. Currently, she is the leading team scorer on the team, is very patient, and is able to navigate and bowl the bocce ball to the palina with ease. Trinity is always there to cheer on her other teammates and listens to her coaches throughout each match.

James is averaging just under 15 points a game this year and has been a stalwart on the defensive end as well. James has had an outstanding season thus far and is a great team leader playing multiple positions and supporting his teammates on and off the court. He continues to work hard and is a great all-around player. He currently plays on both the 7th and 8th grade basketball teams.

During the Tornadoes most recent game against Marian Catholic, Jude recorded 21 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Jude has been having an impressive season thus far and is currently the leading scorer for the Red Tornadoes playing the forward position. He works hard and is a true team player. Ben started off the season on a high note and has been working hard towards reaching his goals. In the Tornadoes last home match, Ben had pinned his opponent in the 152lb weight class to help a young Tornadoes team, as well as went 3-1 with 3 pins in the South Williamsport Tournament this past weekend. Ben has a strong work ethic and will be a fierce competitor this season for our wrestling team.

With a solid routine at the PIAA District IV Championships this past weekend, the Varsity Competitive Cheerleading team brought home the team title in the Large Varsity division and advanced to the State Championships which will be held at the end of January at the Giant Center in Hershey. Both Bella and Kaliana played a crucial role in the win using their talents throughout various aspects of the team's routine. Both are senior members and team captains this year and have done an excellent job this season using their experiences to help their team succeed.

Ebin Hine

In an impressive showing at the PIAA District IV Championship meet, Ebin placed 5th and advanced to the State Championships with a time of 17:38, which would be his best time for the season thus far. Even with battling through an injury this season, he has proven that hardwork and dedication to this sport has earned him a trip to the big dance next weekend. Ebin will be representing MCA and District IV competing at the P.I.A.A. State Championships in Hershey.

Luke Blessing

On the gridiron, Luke Blessing had a great showing in the annual Coal Bucket rivalry football game against Shamokin Area where he rushed for 168 yards and 3 touchdowns. Luke and teammate Xavier Diaz became the 3rd set of running backs in MCA history to run for over 100 yards in a game, and Luke has also become only the 13th MCA player to hit the 1000 yard mark in career receiving yards. He currently sits at the #10 spot with 1106 yards. Luke currently plays the running back position for the Tornadoes.

 In an impressive showing during last week's games against Bloomsburg and Southern, Tessa showed great effort on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball, as well as keeping her teammates in sync throughout the game. She scored a game high of 9 points during the Bloomsburg game where MCA came away with a win. Tessa is currently the point guard for our 8th grade team, and has been a fierce competitor for the Tornadoes averaging 8 points a game.

Raina Paulson

 In an impressive showing during recent games against Danville and Loyalsock, Raina showed great effort on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. She currently plays on the 8th grade team and is the leading scorer averaging 12 points a game for the Lady Tornadoes. In last week's game against Danville, Raina scored a game high 22 points showing that she has been an incredible asset to the team.

Cole currently plays the quarterback position and is a captain for the team. During Friday night's homecoming game against Bloomsburg, Cole compiled over 100 yards passing, and has now moved into 10th place all time with 145 career completions and 25 touchdowns.

In last Monday's game against Bloomsburg, Jaxon had an impressive 4 touchdowns as well as a strong defensive showing to help the Tornadoes to a 42-8 win over the Panthers. Jaxon currently plays the positions of running back and linebacker for the team.

Drew shot an average of 88 this season and qualified for the District Championships in his first year on the team. Xavier Diaz

In an impressive showing during Friday Night's game against Southern Columbia, Xavier had 10 receptions which established a new single game record making him only the 2nd player in program history to surpass 200 yards. He totaled 209 yards with two touchdowns as the Tornadoes capped off a 42-30 win for the program. Xavier currently plays the running back and defensive back position for the Big Red.

During Friday night's game against North Schuylkill, Maddox led the team with 15 tackles, had one sac, and overall was a great team leader on the field. Maddox is currently a starting linebacker for the Red Tornadoes defense.

During last Tuesday’s meet, Lucas finished with a time of 19:14, and finished 12th overall going against athletes from Central, Danville, Shikellamy, and Mount Carmel. Lucas made big strides in his mileage over the summer, and has been a great team leader thus far!

During Saturday’s game against Shikellemy Ava was MCA’s only scorer, scoring off an indirect kick on the goal line. Ava excels at the midfield position helping to control both the Tornadoes offensive and defensive efforts.

Hobi competes in the co-op program that MCA has with Our Lady of Lourdes for boys soccer. During Saturday’s game, Hobi had a hat trick in the Raiders big win over Weatherly. The Raiders are currently the top seed in their division. Hobi excels at the forward position helping the team's offensive efforts.
