TRACK CAMP INFORMATION AND SCHEDULE


We are currently looking for business sponsors for this year's youth camp.  Cost is $200. See Information Below.

JULY 22-24th, 2024


Scheduled Activities:

 

*Campers will be placed in groups by grades:

         Group 1 – grades K – 1    Group 2 – grades 2 – 3

         Group 3 – grades 4 – 5     Group 4 – grades 6 – 8

 

IMPORTANT:  Sign up via text for messages about camp concerning the schedule or any changes due to weather.   Text 81010 with the message @mcacamp24

 

Monday - Tuesday: (July 22-23) The first 2 days of 

camp the campers will be introduced to the following track and field events. 

  

         Running:    

                   Sprints (100, 200, 400 meter dashes) 

                  Distance (800, 1600, 3200 meter runs) 

                  Relays (4 x 100, 4 x 400, 4 x 800) 

                  Hurdles 

         Jumping:    

                   Long, Triple, and High Jump 

         Throwing:  

                   Shot Put, Discus, and Javelin

 

* Basic instruction for each event will be given and campers will have the opportunity to participate in any events they choose. 

 * Campers will be under close supervision at all times and safety rules will be enforced. 

  

Wednesday: (July 24) Track Competition:    

         1. Running Events (100, 200) 

         2. Jumping Events (long jump, high jump (grades 6-8)  

         3. Throwing Events (shot put, turbo jav) 

 

Purpose:   The camp is designed to introduce the various running, throwing, and jumping events and to develop an interest in the sport of track and field. 

  

Philosophy:   To provide the camper with knowledge and skill in each of the track and field events; to teach good sportsmanship and working together as a team; and to introduce training techniques and exercises to improve overall physical condition. 

  

Location:   Mt. Carmel Area Stadium  (In case of rain, activities may be held at the high school gymnasium) 

  

Time

  

Ages:   All boys and girls who will be enrolled in grades K - 8 during the 2024 - 2025 school year. 

  

Cost:   The cost will be $50.00, which will include a camp t-shirt. No Refunds for no-shows or camper cancellation.

 

Staff:   Mt. Carmel Area Track Coaching Staff and selected members of the senior high school boys and girls track team.

Awards:    Ribbons will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in each event.  No participation ribbons are given.

 

Insurance:   The Mt. Carmel Area Track Camp will not furnish accident coverage. Each camper will be required to have his/her own accident insurance.
