Music Room Expectations

Students are expected to show respect to the teacher and other students.

When students are not being respectful or not following directions, they are given a verbal warning. Should they continue, their seating or standing arrangement is changed with a second verbal warning. The third time they are sent to the office. Any act of insubordination will earn a write-up.

Students need to show pride and take care of the classroom, school, and its contents.

Each student is responsible for returning music in excellent condition. Should the student lose or destroy something, he/she will be responsible for replacing the item.

Students should come to class prepared.

Students need to bring a pencil to class each day. Pencils should be sharpened before class begins or raise his/her hand for permission to sharpen a pencil in case of a break. As the student enters, he/she needs to collect his/her music folder and be ready to sing when the bell rings. Students will no be allowed to leave the classroom unless there is a note from the office, another teacher, or is DEATHLY ill. I will dismiss the students at the end of the hour.

Students are expected to attend certain concerts.

Each student has been given a list of concert dates the first day of school. Each concert is worth 100 points. In case of an emergency or death, please call before the concert. With a prior notification, a student may be assigned a report to make up the points missed.

Concert Grades are based on:

Being on time for the Warm-ups (10 points) Dressed properly (10 points) Performance (50 points) Being an attentive member of the audience (20 points) Staying for the whole concert (10 points)

Students' grades will be based on daily grades, homework, and test.

On days when the choirs are practicing, the students will be given a grade based upon their participation. 5- Student is prepared and sings when required, including warm-ups. 4-Student sings most of the time but is not quite prepared and/or misses the warm-ups. 3-Student sings some but may have talked or been distracted. 2- Student is somewhat disruptive, doing other things, or not singing. 1-Student sings very little. 0-Student does not participate.
