COMPREHENSION STRATEGY: Visualize (form pictures in your mind about the characters, setting, and events in the story)
COMPREHENSION SKILL: Character (person or animal in the story);
Setting (when and where a story takes place);
Events (what happens in the story; Plot (beginning, middle, & end)
VOCABULARY WORDS:
aside - on or to one side
culture - the way of life for a group of people
fair - equal and just for all sides
invited - asked to come
language - the speech of a group of people
scurries - moves quickly
plead - to beg or argue with someone
share - to give or lend something to others
VOCABULARY STRATEGY: Inflected Endings (to understand the meaning of a word you do not know, you can separate the root word from the ending)
--s and es added means plural
--ing added means happening now
--ed added means already happened
HIGH-FREQUENCY WORDS: could, find, funny, green, how, little, one, or, see, sounds, blue, even, yellow, help, put, for, ball, there, both, why
