Math Prayers

Dear God, May we, through your blessings, add purity in the world.

Subtract evil from our lives, multiply our good news,

and divide Your gifts and share them with others. Amen

Almighty God, We pray to You to have our joys added, sorrows subtracted, friends multiplied, love divided, and problems solved. Amen

We will have math fact checks every Monday and Friday. Fact checks will be worth 3 points each. All students will start with addition then move on to subtraction. Students will move at their own pace. Please study any fact checks that are sent home in the maroon MBS folder. The fact checks sent home in this folder will be re tested. Students will begin multiplication and then division fact checks once we have completed the multiplication and division chapters in the math book.
Mastery of the basic math operations (adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division) will ensure that a proper foundation of knowledge is formed to build on future skills and concepts.
Math facts should be practiced at home daily. IXL is a great resource for math facts. I will send home multiplication and division flashcards once we begin these chapters in our math book. Please study flashcards weekly at home.
Students are encouraged to use IXL at home. This will allow them to practice math skills covered in class.
Students will have several opportunities for grading through classwork, homework, math facts review, quizzes, and tests. When preparing for a test, please see the review questions in the math book. The math online website has some great online quizzes, tutorial and watch videos.

Math at a Glance (Dec.8th-12th)

We are continuing to learn multiplication facts and patterns. Students will have booklets for each skill as we get to them. So far we have completed x2, x5 and x10! We are starting 3s, 4s, 0 and 1! Review the booklets in their binder.

This test will be given on Wednesday, December 17th!

Multiplication flash cards will be sent home soon as well.

Please know that students are allowed AND encouraged to bring their Math book home daily if they are needing extra practice.

Division- W3, Y3

Multiplication- O4, Q3

Moving forward NO late homework will be accepted unless excused with illness or absence. Please do not bring your student's materials to school if they forgot it. We are trying to work on our responsibility. We know accidents happen but 2 pts off for no homework will not make or break their grade. That being said, we will also be giving out responsibility points and conduct points for not being prepared for class. Our students know our rules and expectations. I know we can do it!
