Pécs is known not only for its cultural heritage but also for being the place where many cultures meet. The city has a very strong university lifestyle, with cultural programs in different areas, as well as diverse restaurants and entertaining bars & pubs. Király utca (Király Street): downtown Pécs is full of cozy coffee shops and vibrant pubs, especially on Király Street. Is almost sure that, there, you will find the ideal spot for you. Let it be a calm cafe to read a book, or a friendly environment to share a drink with friends, that's the place!
Zsolnay Negyed (Zsolnay Cultural Quarter): as the name suggests, cultural exhibitions are frequently available in this space. Attractions include expositions of art pieces representing the cultural and economic heritage of the local ceramic industry. Concerts and other significant events are also held at the Zsolnay Quarter.
Pécsi Syékesegyház (Basilica of Pécs): named as Cathedral of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, the building originated in the 11th century and is nowadays considered a beautiful example of art and resilience. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, it is open for visitors and offers a tower tour with an appealing view of the city.
Zsolnay Fényfesztivál (Zsolnay Light Festival): every year, Pécs hosts the only light festival in the country. As the perfect combination of past sceneries and recent technologies, the festival provides a unique experience and heavenly sights of light projections around the city's buildings.

The Cella Septichora is a group of tombs dating back to the 16th century, preserving cultural and artistic traces from the Roman Empire. You can visit the underground chambers and appreciate the paintings at the Visitor Center.

In 2010 Pécs was chosen as the European Capital of Culture. By that, it is recognized as the symbol of successfully fusing history, art, and progress, involving various cultures and welcoming different people.
