Welcome Back Wildcats!!
Classroom Expectations
Class rules and expectations:
-Students are to be seated WITH ALL of their required materials for the day when the Final bell rings to start each hour or they will be marked tardy.
“A student is tardy if he/she is not in his/her assigned seat when class begins. P.36”
-Students will be given the handbook required time to turn in late work.
“Students who have been excused from school, or who have been suspended without having any other option offered to them, shall be given the opportunity to make up the work that has been missed. It is the student’s responsibility to contact the teacher(s) and obtain any missing assignments. The student is expected to request their missed assignments on the first day after returning to class. The amount of time allowed to complete make-up work is calculated as follows: ● One (1) day for each day of absence plus one (1) additional day. (Example: a student who missed two (2) days of school would have three (3) days to complete his/her make-up work. The first day of make-up begins on the day he/she returns to class). P.34”
-Students are expected to be quiet during direct instruction time and wait to be called on to speak unless doing group work or activity in which they have been instructed to have conversations with their peers about the subject matters. Class time is for every student's education, not for socializing. Use your lunch and/or passing time for that.
- Students who are disrupting the educational process of their peers will be sent out of my room to ISS. It is the right of each individual in my room to have access to an education and it is my duty as an educator to protect that right for EVERY student.
*Infringing on the rights of others removes the protection of your own rights just as it does beyond the four walls of this classroom. Respect for others is the key to ensuring a safe, healthy and when possible, FUN educational environment for all of us to enjoy. Including families when students are able to bring that joy and curiosity home to you as well.*
-CATS cards will be given out to those who are representing and emulating the core values of the schools.

Food and Beverages:
Breakfast is to be eaten in the cafeteria BEFORE arriving to class.
Students MAY have a water bottle with a lid to drink WATER. I reserve the right to change this at any time shall the class behavior require this privilege be removed.
NO ENERGY DRINKS, POP, or JUICE (unless medically necessary) is permitted.
Snacks that are not distracting to the class or messy may be eaten in class with permission as long as ALL garbage is removed. Failure for individuals in classes to follow this rule will result in the whole class losing this privilege as well.
I think it is crucial that our students not be hungry while they are trying to learn. If that basic need is unmet they have a hard time focusing on anything let alone world events from 200 years ago. I will not take revoking this privilege lightly.
When I am able to, I will have a small amount of emergency snacks for kids, likely leftover fruits or snacks that other students did not want but were required to take for their meals. If anybody would like to add to this please feel free.
IF for some reason your family is in a hard situation regarding this topic please reach out to me or another school employee as there are resources we can get you in contact with to help with certain family needs. We are a community and as such we rise by lifting others, particularly those within our own communities.
Extra Credit: There will be various possibilities for extra credit in this class. A few of those include:
Personal responsibility project: your first assignment is to get this sheet signed and bring it with you to the first day of class (if receiving in class then or next meeting period) Show me it is signed and place it in your folder. At the end of each marking period you will receive 10pts for having the Classroom Rules and Expectations sheet in your folder/binder for the class.
Bringing in School Supplies: I recommend saving this option until we get towards the end of semester or marking period so you use it at the right time. You are allowed to do this once PER semester. I will accept no more than 4 items or sets of items worth a total of 20 pts on their lowest test or quiz score. For instance 4 packs or pencils, or 2 packs of pencils and 2 boxes of highlighters. Small bottles (8 oz approx) of sanitizer count as one item. If a big ole jug is brought I’ll count it as all 4. I try to make it so that families are spending very little money for this option for EC.
There will regularly be small activities or extra questions on worksheets, assignments that can earn students extra credit points on that assignment. It is up to them to notice these and take advantage of them.
