* I believe all students learn better when they feel safe, respected and comfortable in a caring and inviting environment.
* I believe students learn when they are developmentally ready and when new information is tied to what they already know.
* I believe all students are created with different strengths and gifts, which allow them to excel in different areas.
* I believe students learn best in their own unique way and at their own speed.
* I believe all students can become confident, independent learners with practice and determination.
* I believe students’ physical needs must be met in order to learn. They need to be well rested, healthy, hydrated and fed. To ensure this, I believe: students, who fall asleep, should sleep; water bottles are within reach at their tables; any time food is available, I encourage them to eat; a bathroom signal lets kids go anytime when needed; students, who obviously aren’t feeling well, need a loved one from home to come get them; and finally for emotional support, hugs and a kind words are always available.
