Baseball Comes to MHS!

In a school board meeting the board voted to add baseball and volleyball for sports starting during the 2018-2019 school year.

Maysville shows flashes of success in year one

Despite having a strong youth baseball program, students of Maysville past never had the experience of high school baseball. The first season under Coach Dakota Dunlap exceeded the expectations of many. They made it to the district championship game ultimately losing to Bishop LeBlond.

Covid Shuts down Spring Season

A world pandemic in 2020 shut down the spring season of athletics around the United States. Coach Dunlap firmly believed his team was poised to make the right moves to vie for a district title and possibly make a run in the state tournament. One of the greater "what ifs?" in Maysville athletic history.

Back to Baseball, Back to a District Championship

The Wolverines did not miss a beat from missing a year of baseball due to Covid-19, making it to another district championship. Unfortunately, the Wolverines ran into a juggernaut East Buchanan team and lost a close game 12-14. East Buchanan ended up making it to the state championship losing by one run that season.

Wolverines win Districts!

In the 2022 season the pieces came together for Coach Dunlap and the Wolverines. Earning the one seed in districts they cruised to a district championship and met a stout Plattsburg team in sectional play. Unfortunately the Plattsburg Tigers won the game and ended the Wolverines most successful season to date. Plattsburg finished third at state that season.

Here we come Springfield!

Continuing from the success of the prior season, the Wolverines regrouped after losing some vital seniors from the squad. The Wolverines entered districts as the #1 seed and cruised to another district title, not allowing a single run during districts. In a section rematch against Plattsburg, the boys avenged last years defeat by a score of 12-11, holding off a late comeback from the Tigers. Next the boys traveled to Tipton where battled to an 8-6 victory. The boys did not fare as well at state as they met the undefeated, and eventual state champion, Ash Grove, losing 0-11. The next day in a pitchers duel, the Wolverines lost 0-1 earning 4th place. This is the highest finish for any boys team in school history.
