what can I expect?

Virtual Instruction at MHS for 2020-21 school year.

These are some of the aspects of distance learning that a student can expect at MHS.

  • Staff will utilize G-Suite tools for instruction (Google classroom, Meet, Forms, Docs, Slides, etc.).
  • Staff will communicate with the student using email, Google Classroom, Remind, and by phone.
  • Lessons will be delivered through a variety of means. Lessons can/will be delivered using a “screencast” tool or through an actual recording of the lesson. That lesson will be sent to the student by email or posted in Google classroom for the student to access. Some staff may utilize their own personal website that they can update through the use of “hyperlinks” that students can pull assignments from.
  • Office hours will be established by the staff member so students can reach out with questions and ask for help. These office hours will mirror tutoring times established in years past. Each staff member will post and share their office hours to all students in their classes.
  • If a virtual student is sick or has an internet outage, the student/parent will need to contact MHS as soon as possible to inform the school. Virtual student work will be expected to be turned in on a timely basis as established by the staff member.
  • A student that is on the virtual platform is allowed to switch to in-person once per quarter.
  • Attendance will be determined by daily participation for distance learners. This could be but not limited to completed assignments, student participation, and/or check-ins w/staff
  • Screen time will vary from class to class. This will be relayed from the staff member to the the student.
