Cory Patterson
Mr. Patterson started Taekwon-Do at Maum Sin Yong’s Aurora Taekwon-Do Beck location in the fall of 1999 at age 5. As he juggled multiple activities through school, including soccer, concert band, jazz band, and marching band, he tested for and was promoted to I Dan in 2010. Two years later Mr. Patterson tested for and was promoted to II Dan; he then went off to college in September of 2012. In 2013 with permission from MSY’s Senior Instructors he established the Fort Lewis College Taekwon-Do Club (FLC TKD), which is still operating under his instruction. In January of 2016 Mr. Patterson tested for and was promoted to III Dan.
In 2007 Mr. Patterson started assistant instructing for Aurora Taekwon-Do’s Beck classes; once a Black Belt Mr. Patterson instructed for Aurora Taekwon-Do in the following classes, Parent & Tot, 4-6 y/o, 7-12 y/o, and he also taught in the Compass Program, which is a cooperative program between the City of Aurora and Aurora Public Schools to provide after school activities for at-risk children.
As a I Dan Mr. Patterson offered to digitize the Maum Sin Yong Technical Manual and Curriculum, then seeing a need took up the task of creating a new and functional website for the Maum Sin Yong Taekwon-Do Federation. Through his dedication to teaching, Maum Sin Yong, and the art of Taekwon-Do, Mr. Patterson is now an integral part of the Maum Sin Yong Administration and Instructor Corps.
Currently Mr. Patterson is a full time student at Fort Lewis College where he is finishing up a degree in Political Science, while working part-time, fulfilling his responsibilities in the MSY Administration, and teaching two nights a week at FLC TKD.
