When applying to a college/university, check their website. Most colleges have online applications and encourage applying online to speed up the application process.
Many schools have “open houses” or "preview days" to accommodate large groups of prospective students who wish to learn about the school and take tours – in other words, whole groups can have concerns and questions answered. Juniors and Seniors are encouraged to “shop” around. Students can check a school’s website to get dates of their upcoming open houses and preview days. If you would like a more personalized visit, schedule in advance for an individual tour and meeting with admissions.
Students that are using online applications are reminded to notify teachers as soon as possible when a teacher is listed as a “recommender” or “evaluator.” The application site may or may not e-mail the necessary forms to the teacher, but too often a teacher doesn’t know what is needed from them or the email could go in their "junk" mail and missed. Counselors also need to be notified. DO NOT rely on an email for a recommendation or school information to be sent.
